Chapter 9: Board of Secondary Education

9.1 Alignment of Vocational Courses with Scheme of Studies

The Board of School Education has been entrusted with the task of examination and certification, along with Sector Skill Council (SSCs), for skills offered under the Pilot Project. These trades have been categorized as Applied Learning subjects. In class 9th and 10th, these subjects are optional. In class 11th and 12th, these are one of the elective subjects for Commerce, Science and Humanities stream.

9.1.1 Secondary

At the secondary level i.e. class IXth and Xth, vocational modules will be offered as an additional or compulsory subject.
The grades/marks obtained by the student in the vocational subject shall be necessarily factored in the final mark sheet and obtaining at least the minimum marks/grades specified for the vocational subject will be essential to enable a student to move to the next standard at the secondary

9.1.2 Senior Secondary

At the higher secondary level i.e. Class XIth and XIIth, vocational modules would be offered to the academic stream students as a compulsory (elective) subject. In no case vocational modules shall be offered as an additional subject at the higher secondary level. The grades/marks obtained by the student in the vocational subject shall be necessarily factored in the final mark sheet and obtaining at least the minimum marks/grades specified for the vocational subject will be essential to enable a student to move to the next standard at the higher secondary stage.

9.2 Setting up NSQF Cell

The Board also has constituted NSQF cell headed by the Director (Academics) along with other staff, like, Superintendent (Examination), Coordinator and support staff.
