Ex Servicemen

Approximately 60,000 service personnel retire or are released every year at a comparatively young age. Directorate General Resettlement (DGR) assists service personnel (due for retirement/release in one to two years) and Ex- Servicemen (ESM) to acquire additional skills and facilitate their resettlement through a financially viable career serving the civil society. Skill Development would go a long way towards supporting gainful employment of these ESM.

Wadhwani Foundation provides support to MoD in its Skill Development initiatives like successful roll out of National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) based skill training to ESM, supporting NSQF compliant training programmes through Ordinance Factory Boards (OFBs), Defence Public Sector Units (DPSUs) and introduction of vocational education in schools run by defence forces.

 

Career transition is closely associated to skills which drive the jobs in today’s world. A soldier leads a professionally eventful life engrossed in operational, training and administrative commitments and realises the necessity of a second career only closer to his retirement. An analysis of the employment opportunities in corporate sector brings the focus on skilling. Wadhwani Foundation actively involves itself to impart the following key skills, which have a direct bearing on the confidence and placement:
• Communication skills.
• Computer literacy.
• Basic English speaking and writing.
This program has been derived keeping in mind those Ex -Service men who got enrolled after class 10/12 and did not get adequate opportunity in service to upgrade their qualification and skills as would be required for a job in civil sector. They could under take this course over of period of 8-10 months, by only spending 6-8 hrs for week in upgrading their career transition skill.

This program has been design to prepared an ex- service man for a refresher course after he has gone through either 205 or 110 hours Preparatory courses. This course is ideal just before he goes for an interview with the potential employer.
